Saint Charles Houses Midtown Atlanta

Historic Committee

Due to the hard work of a diverse group of midtown neighbors, the Midtown neighborhood was established as a National Register Historic District in 1999. While the national designation recognizes Midtown as an area worth protecting, many residents recognized that a local preservation district provides a better framework for protecting the beauty of Midtown.

Concerned residents met with the Midtown Neighbors' Association and a committee was formed to evaluate and prepare information for the neighborhood.

The committee comprises many volunteers who represent the diversity of our neighborhood from homeowners, to residents, to concerned citizens from other neighborhoods. Some have just arrived in Atlanta and others have been life-long residents, but all share a common vision.

Midtown Neighbors' Association (MNA)

The mission of the Midtown Neighbors’ Association is to ensure that our vibrant and diverse neighborhood becomes an increasingly better community in which to enjoy the benefits of the urban experience. We strive to develop solutions that continually improve Midtown’s safety and quality of life and give our neighbors a voice in development and revitalization decisions. We seek to act as the neighborhood’s link to other communities, government agencies and our elected officials. We strive to be inclusive, proactive, and diligent in our commitment to serve the best interest of Midtown as a neighborhood by bringing together our community.

MNA, a not-for-profit organization, is managed and run by volunteers. Founded in the late 1960s, it represents both residents and businesses as members. Currently, MNA has almost 400 paid memberships representing households, businesses and individuals.

The MNA Board of Directors meets the last Thursday of each month at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Midtown and hosts an annual meeting in April. Meetings are open to the public, and neighborhood involvement is encouraged and welcomed. For all meetings, dates and times, visit www.midtownatlanta.org.
